# An uncensored LLM API with no account: pay and get a key, nothing else

Most LLM APIs start with a sign up form: email, password, verification, sometimes a phone number, and a dashboard
before you can make one request. For uncensored models that is the worst place to start, because the account ties
everything you send to your identity.

Open Uncensored has no accounts. Here is exactly how it works and what we do and do not keep.

## How you pay without an account

1. Go to [openuncensored.com/credits](https://openuncensored.com/credits) and pick an amount of prepaid credit ($5 to $1,000).
2. Pay with Stripe Checkout. Stripe asks for your card and an email for the receipt. We never see the card.
3. You get an API key (`ou-...`). That key is the whole relationship: there is no username, no password, no profile
   and no dashboard login.
4. Top up the same key later from the credits page, or check the balance with `GET https://openuncensored.com/api/v1/credits`.

checkout, hands you the payment link, and collects the key once you have paid.

## What is kept

- **Not kept: your prompts and the replies.** They pass through our router to the provider that serves the model and
  are not written to our storage.
- **Kept: request metadata** (time, model, token counts, cost, speed) for billing and the public speed figures.
- **Kept by Stripe: the payment.** We hold a customer record with your credit balance and a hash of your key, not the key
  itself.
- **Kept by the provider: their policy.** Each provider's logging and retention is listed on the
  [providers page](https://openuncensored.com/providers), and you can restrict your requests to the ones you trust with
  `"routing": {"only": [...]}`.
