Terms of service.

Plain language terms for the website and the API. By buying credits or sending a request with an Open Uncensored key, you agree to them.

01What we provide

Open Uncensored (“we”, “us”) runs openuncensored.com and an API that routes your requests to third party providers of open weight and modified language models. We also publish evaluations of those models. Questions about these terms go to support@openuncensored.com.

02Your key

There are no user accounts. Your API key is a bearer credential: anyone holding it can spend its credits. Keep it secret, do not put it in client side code, and rotate it by buying credits for a new key if it leaks. We store only a hash of each key, so we cannot show a lost key again. We may revoke a key that breaks these terms.

03Credits and prices

Credits are prepaid in US dollars. Each request is charged at the serving provider's per token price shown on the model's page, and the charge is taken from your key's balance. A service fee is added when you buy credits. Prices can change. A change applies to requests made after it is published.

The cost of a request is only known once the response finishes, so a balance can go slightly below zero. The shortfall is taken from your next purchase. Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred between keys, and are refundable only as described in the refund policy.

04Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Where Stripe's Managed Payments is enabled, Stripe's Link is the seller of record for the transaction, collects any sales tax or VAT, and its terms also apply.

05Acceptable use

The models we route to are modified to refuse less. That makes you responsible for what you ask them and what you do with the output. You must follow the law that applies to you and to us. In particular you may not use the service to:

  • generate, request or distribute sexual content involving minors. This is prohibited on every model and every provider, with no exceptions, and we report it to the authorities where the law requires;
  • harass, threaten, defame or impersonate real people, or produce intimate images of real people without their consent;
  • attack, intrude into or disrupt systems or data you are not authorised to test;
  • plan or carry out violence, or acquire weapons, against anyone;
  • defraud people, or violate sanctions, export controls or intellectual property rights;
  • abuse the service itself: get around billing, overload the API, resell keys without our agreement, or probe our infrastructure without permission.

Providers may also apply their own policies, listed on each provider's page.

06Your data

We do not store the text of your prompts or completions. The router keeps request metadata (time, model, provider, token counts, latency and cost) for billing, abuse prevention and the public speed and reliability figures. Stripe holds your payment details and receipt email. Requests are forwarded to the provider that serves them, and each provider's logging policy is shown on the providers page. We do not control what providers do.

07Evaluations

Scores, rankings and policy tables on the site are informational. Numbers marked Preview are placeholders, and measured results can change between runs. Do not rely on them as a guarantee of how a model will behave.

08No warranty

The service and model outputs are provided as is, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, fitness for a purpose and uninterrupted availability. Model output can be wrong, offensive or harmful. You use it at your own risk.

09Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim. You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the service or your breach of these terms.

10Ending use

You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or revoke keys that break these terms, and we may change or discontinue the service. If we shut the service down for reasons other than a breach, we refund unused credits.

11Changes and law

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, and disputes go to the courts of New York County, unless the law where you live gives you a right to sue at home.
